611 The Much Honoured Maria, Lady Kinfauns (née Nadolski) is the wife of Fergus Commane, 26th Lord Kinfauns, and matriarch of Newhall House and Estate in County Clare, one of Ireland’s oldest gentry homes.

Born in London in 1964, Her Ladyship descends from the ancient Polish noble house of Warzęta Korwin z Ślepowrony, bearing the historic Ślepowron coat of arms, one of Poland’s oldest heraldic families and recognised among the szlachta (nobility) since the 13th century. By tradition the noble house traces it's lineage back to Marcus Valerius Corvus, a famed Roman general. Her father, a devout Catholic and Second World War veteran, served as an anti-aircraft gunner in Scotland, defending Britain during the Blitz — a poignant connection to her later title of Lady Kinfauns.

In 1984, Maria married Fergus Commane, later succeeding to the barony as 26th Lord Kinfauns. Her husband was brought up on his parents’ farm at Newhall, on lands that were once part of the historic estate, and together they later acquired Newhall House and its demesne. Under Lady Kinfauns’ direction, the estate has undergone one of Ireland’s most significant private restoration projects, encompassing Newhall House, Killone Abbey, and the Holy Well of St John the Baptist.

Her Ladyship also served for over three decades as Managing Director of Site Masters PLC, building the company into a respected national firm. During this time, she also served as a Governor of Maudsley & Bethlem Hospital School, where she championed the educational rights of children with complex mental health needs.

In 2025, the family’s Gaelic lineage was formally recognised when Clan Commane was entered onto the Clans of Ireland Register under the patronage of the President of Ireland. As Taoiseach successor, consecrated by derbhfine under Brehon law, Lord Kinfauns was installed as Gaelic Clan Chief of Ó Comáin. As matriarch of the clan, Lady Kinfauns continues to support its cultural, charitable, and historical mission.

Her family seat is Newhall, where she is quietly dedicated to heritage preservation, sacred landscapes, and the stewardship of a lineage stretching back over a millennium.
